Match of the Month

Congratulations to John Swenson and Carl Taute, Kinship Partners’ newest “Match of the Month.”  The past two years have brought Carl and John from being strangers to the point where now John is just part of the family.

John says that being matched with Carl has been a lot of fun and has provided him with the opportunity to do many things he wouldn’t normally have been able to do.  John’s favorite activity has been ice fishing. 

Carl feels “It’s never hard to find activities to do with John. It’s mostly the usual fare, with the benefits he adds as a good companion and extra motivation for me.”  In addition, “I have found I get a lot out of this relationship. It’s a real feel good function plus I always enjoy and value our time together.”   

Congratulations to Kinship Partners’ newest Match of the Month. Nicholas Bacon and Rosemary Shaffer have recently celebrated their second anniversary as partners.   Some of Nicholas’s favorite times with Rosemary have been spent playing mini golf, walking along the river at Kiwanis Park, going to the library to  work on school assignments and participating in Kinship’s Ice Fishing Contest. Nick and Rosemary are a wonderful example of what happens when an adult and a youngster begin their Kinship relationship and end up as forever friends. 

Kinship Partners is pleased to recognize Barb Holmes, Breezy Point, and Tori Long, a 6th grader at Pequot Lakes Middle School, as its April Match of the Month. Barb and Tori have shared an easy-going friendship for three years. Barb calls the opportunity to spend time and teach a youngster “priceless.” Mom and Tori both agree that the relationship is now more than just Kinship – they are like family.
